Scene 2 (Day)
Brian wakes up in the middle of a road in a neighborhood. He gets up, and is bruised.
After looking around confused for a couple seconds, he looks for his cell phone. He looks through the numbers in it, and finds Vinnie's. When he tries to make a call, the operator can be heard saying the call failed. He tries again, but the same thing happens. He puts his cell phone in his pocket, still confused. The camera pans around him to his left. About 50 feet away, a boy is standing looking at him.

After an awkward silence

BRIAN. Hey, can you help me out?

The boy starts walking towards him

BRIAN. Oh good, are your parents around? See I lost my car and my phone isn't working and don't know where I ---

Brian stops speaking. There is a closeup of the boy revealing blood all over him.

BRIAN. Hey, are you ok?

Brian walks slowly towards him. The boy lets out a scream and starts running (limping running though) to Brian.

BRIAN. What the...? Holy shit!

Brian starts running, but the end of the road is a dead end. He runs into the dead end, into an abandoned power line field, past the field, into some woods, and over a fence into a backyard. Brian turns around as the zombie boy pounds against the fence violently. Brian just stares at it for a couple seconds as it doesnt give up trying to pound through the fence. He walks further into the backyard towards the house.

Scene 3 (Day)
After walking more towards the house, Brian starts hearing loud screams from a girl inside the house. Right when hearing that, Brian turns and starts walking the other way. However, a second loud scream stops him. After thinking for a bit, another scream is heard, Brian muffles a "Dammit...", and walks towards the back door.

At the back door, Brian knocks the door twice. It is already slightly open.

BRIAN. Hello...?

It opens a bit more, and Brian takes a step in. He is almost fully in the house now, and peeks his head around the edge of the door to the right.

BRIAN. Hello is anybody in here?

Brian walks through the door past the kitchen, grabs a frying pan, then to his left where the bathroom is. He looks inside the bathroom and walks in. The shower curtain is closed. He slowly goes to open the shower curtain, and theres a zombie standing there. The zombie tries to attack him, but Brian runs out of the bathroom and slams the door shut.

Brian then rests against the door for a little bit, and sops down to the floor.

BRIAN. What the fuck is going on...

After a second, the door starts banging and shaking. Brian jumps up and stares at the door. After the banging stops, he puts his hand on the doorknob and opens the door a couple inches. A bloody hand is stuck out the door, but Brian pushes it back in and slams the door.

It cuts to Brian walking up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, there is a dismembered body of a young boy. Brian walks past it, and to the left into an open bedroom. Cautiously, with frying pan in hand, Brian creeps into the room. He is immediatly tackled by another boy, not a zombie. He's wearing a paintball mask and a football shoulder pad.

After getting punched in the face a couple times

BRIAN. Stop it!

Once Brian says words, the boy (MIKE) stops pounding him, and takes off his mask, revealing he's a regular guy, not a zombie.

Scene 4 (Indoor Day)
It cuts to Brian sitting at a dining room table, and then Mike (with coffee in hand) joins him.

MIKE. So… what’s your story?

BRIAN. (Pause) My story?

MIKE. Yeah, like for example, how did you get here? Why exactly were you walking around my house with a frying pan?

BRIAN. Oh, I got you. Well I was driving around with my friend Mike. I don’t remember much after that, I sort of blacked out. I woke up and I was lying in the middle of the street in some neighborhood by here.

MIKE. You just blacked out?

BRIAN. Yeah.

MIKE. …and your car?

BRIAN. I have no idea what happened to it. Anyway, I was in the middle of the street, and I see some guy. Next thing I know I’m getting chased through some powerline fields and into your backyard.

MIKE. You were chased… by a guy?

BRIAN. Yeah, it was weird. He was covered with what looked like blood, I swear, and he was screaming at me, I was just trying to not get involved… (pause)

MIKE. (confused) What’s wrong?

BRIAN. Oh… nothing, it’s just that I could have sworn I heard a woman’s screams coming from your house. I mean, that’s why I came in your house, because I heard some lady screaming and I felt like I should help.

MIKE. Uh… (slightly embarrassed) that was me… I saw my little brother dead on the ground, and I screamed at the top of my lungs. I thought the house was being robbed, so I ran back into my room, put on some equipment I found in my closet, and went downstairs.

BRIAN. Yeah, I saw your brother on the way up…anyway, I felt as if I should help. So I get inside, and for safety I find the closest thing to me, a frying pan... I heard screams, what would you do in the situation? So I go in the bathroom, and theres this guy covored in blood in your shower, so I ran out and shut the door. I went upstairs, saw your brother, then I met you.

MIKE. So my Dad's in the bathroom...

BRIAN. That was your dad?

MIKE. Yeah.

(Silence)

BRIAN. (after a pause) ...sorry?

MIKE. I saw my Dad in the kitchen, but he wasn’t the same… there was blood all over his mouth. He actually attacked me, he was insane, so I pushed him in the bathroom, took his radio, and ran up to my room.

BRIAN. His radio?

MIKE. My dad’s a police officer, he has a radio. I wanted to know if anyone had heard of any domestic violence things, to see if help was on the way, you know? So I turned the radio on in my room, but that’s when I realized that something a lot bigger was happening.

BRIAN. What do you mean “a lot bigger”?

Mike stands up

MIKE. Come on, let me show you.

Scene 5 (Indoor day)
Mike and Brian are upstairs in his room and are looking at the police radio. Various screams are heard through it. After a couple gunshots, a voice is heard.

VOICE ON RADIO. ...there's hundreds of them. I don't know the police code for crazy canniballistic riots. I just had to kill my partner because he tried to eat me, he managed to get two of my fingers though. If anyone can hear me, I'm at 19 Dogwood Hollow, I'm with a couple more people, we are going to use this house as a safe house for people who aren't going insane. Again, that's 19 Dogwood Hollow, Miller Place, New York... (the voice continues to speak under BRIAN and MIKE's conversation)

BRIAN. Wait, 19 Dogwood Hollow... (pause)

MIKE. What is it?

BRIAN. My friend Vinnie, the one I was driving with last night before I blacked out... that's his house.

MIKE. You think it's safe?

BRIAN. Probably safer than here...

MIKE. Then lets go, we can take my car.

BRIAN. No, wait. We should probably get some sort of defense against... I don't know...

MIKE. ...you don't know what?

BRIAN. ...what to call them.

MIKE. Angry people.

BRIAN. People who have changed.

MIKE. Zombies!

The both of them pause at hearing this, then start cracking up.

BRIAN. Haha, zombies huh? Alright! Do you have anything we could use as weapons?

MIKE. Well, lets take a look...

It cuts to a couple of different shots of Mike and Brian picking up different weapons to use. Some weapons include-
---the rods used with fireplaces I forget what they're called
---a kitchen knife
---a hammer
---a baseball bat
---a golf club
and finally, the two come to Mike's parent's bedroom. Mike looks under the bed to reveal a shoebox. In the shoebox is a handgun.

MIKE. Now just one more thing to do before we leave.

The two of them walk towards the bathroom. Mike slowly approaches the door as Brian stays back. Mike clutches the doorknob, and opens it all the way open. Mike's father, now a zombie, is just standing on the other end. Mike starts to choke up. There's a pause while the father looks at the son. Breaking the silence, the father lets out a yell and runs to the door but Mike shuts it just in time. He's now holding the door shut and trying hard to hold back tears as his father is banging on the door, now a zombie. Brian is just watching in fear as Mike starts to cry a little. As the banging dies down, Mike speaks.

MIKE. We gotta go.

Scene 6 (Day)
Mike and Brian leave towards the back entrance of Mike's house. As they pass by the fence in his backyard, the boy zombie from the beginning still screams and tries to break down the fence and shakes it violently (this should give a laugh). They are now outside in the front of Mike's house. They get in the car. There is no talking throughout this scene. Various shots reveal some of the following...
---A man chasing the car, then gets pummelled by a zombie
---A zombie standing in front of the car, getting hit, and blood getting all over the windsheild. Then, the windshield wipers clean the blood off of the windshield (this is one I definatly like)
---Two zombies are eating a person on the side of the road.

...and any more you can think of. After a bit of driving, they get to the house.

Scene 7 (Night)
Mike and Brian go up to the door. Brian knocks on the door.

MIKE. (Pause) This is useless.

BRIAN. Wait.

Brian opens the door.

BRIAN. Hello?

Brian walks slowly inside, baseball bat in hands. Mike is behind him, with the golf club. They creep around a corner, and a zombie is on the other end of the hall, it looks like another teenager. Brian and Mike beat it up. Another zombie jumps on Mike and tackles him. Mike holds it's head back, while Brian swings his bat, busting the head. Brian and Mike high five, and walk into the next room.

Brian goes in first and sees a zombie eating someone. Upon closer look, it's Vinnie, Brian's friend who he was driving with.

Brian walks closer in shock.

BRIAN. Vinnie...

Vinnie looks up at him for a second, and there's another long glance, this time between best friends. After a period, Vinnie, now a zombie, gets up and attacks Brian, but before he can touch him, Mike shoots Vinnie in the head, killing him.

BRIAN. VINNIE NO!

Brian then tackles Mike in a rage, upset that his best friend was just killed. They struggle, but Brian pushes Mike's gun towards his face. He now is aiming the gun and Mikes face. He goes for the trigger, and pulls it, *click* it's out of ammo.

MIKE. (In shock that Brian just tried to shoot him) WHAT THE FUCK YOU JUST TRIED TO KILL ME!

Mike rolls Brian over and starts punching him in the face. However, they stop for a second, look to the doorway, and see a girl standing there.

MIKE. (After a few seconds) Hey.

Scene 8 (Indoor Night)
Steph (the girl), Mike, and Brian are sitting down having a discussion.

STEPH. You guys had it pretty hard... I can't believe what's going on.

MIKE. We had no idea how crazy things were. We were kinda just thrown into this place also, no clue what the hell is going on. I wake up, and I find that my dad has gone crazy and ate some of my brother.

STEPH. So, what are we going to do?

MIKE. Ummm

BRIAN. Well we should probably look through the rest of the house and see if there's anyone else.

MIKE. Are you crazy? There's probably loads more zombies up there.

BRIAN. Well what if someone's alive there? What, you're gonna let them just die?

MIKE. (yelling now) It's better than us risking our lives!

BRIAN. (yelling) Well that makes you an asshole!

MIKE. You know you're really starting to piss me off.

STEPH. Guys stop it!

BRIAN. No! This jackass isn't thinking of anyone but himself, we need to see if anyone else is here!

STEPH. BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP THEY'LL HEAR YOU FROM OUTSIDE!

MIKE. Me? Jackass? You fucking tried to shoot me because youre little friend was dumb enough to come here like us!

BRIAN. SHUT UP!

STEPH. STOP IT--

Immediatly the front door breaks open and zombies come in. The three of them split up and go separate ways.

Scene 9 (Indoor Night)
Stephanie runs into a bedroom. She pushes a drawer in front of the door and backs away.

Immediatly, a man comes out of the closet. It's Scott.

SCOTT. Hey.

STEPH. Hey, who are you?

SCOTT. I'm Scott, what's your name?

STEPH. Oh I'm Stephanie.

SCOTT. Oh.

STEPH. Yeah...

SCOTT. Yeah.

STEPH. So what were you doin in that closet.

SCOTT. I was with a bunch of people in this house. We thought it was safe, but they came through the windows. Everyone died except for me, I ran into this room and umm... yeah I hid in the closet.

STEPH. There was nothing else you could do.

SCOTT. Even the police officer who made the announcement, he's dead too, he was the first one to die. Right now his body is rotting down some hallway. Then the kid who owns this house, he tried to save him. First heroic thing I saw that pussy do all day. Then the others went down one by one, until I ran into here.

Scott goes to sit against the wall on the other side of the room. Stephanie goes to sit next to him.

STEPH. I was with my boyfriend. We were in the woods and the next thing I remember people were surrounding him, actually eating him. He kept on screaming "Go, go, go" but I was frozen. I stayed frozen until he stopped screaming, when I knew he was dead.

SCOTT. Jesus...

STEPH. Then they chased me. They chased me throught the woods, and into this neighborhood. I heard a gunshot comming from this house, and I ran inside for help, then I met these two guys downstairs.

SCOTT. I heard them, yeah. They were being all loud, and I figured they'd end up killing eachother.

STEPH. Yeah...

SCOTT. Yeah...

There is a bang at the door.

SCOTT. You think that's your friends?

There is more banging at the door.

STEPH. No...

There is a LOT of banging at the door.

Scene 10 (Night)
The following is a bunch of shots between whats happening with Steph and Mike during their last moments alive. It cuts back to when the zombies originally burst into the house.

Mike ran upstairs, and zombies chase him. He is running through a hallway and into a room and notices the dead police officer who originally made the radio call in the beginning. He goes for his gun.

The scene cuts back to Steph and Scott.

STEPH. So... we're gonna die?

SCOTT. Yeah...

Steph moves in closer to scott, and Scott puts his arms around her.

STEPH. Thank you (she starts to cry)...

SCOTT. No problem.

The door is about 4 inches open with the drawer still barely blocking the way. There are hands creeping in through the pathway.

It cuts to Mike. He is sitting down against a wall with a gun. He aims the gun at the door, but then he looks at the gun and points it to himself. He kills himself.

It cuts back to Scott and Steph, who are holding eachother. The door busts open and the zombies come in and it fades to black with blood on the camera.

Scene 11 (Night)
Brian is hiding by the front door. The coast is clear, and he runs out. He looks around on the street. It's all clear. He goes across the street and onto the beach. It's nighttime now, and it's clear.
